When I am looking for a good location for photos, I look at the general feel of the place, the scenery, and the LIGHT. The light may be the most important part of finding a good location and makes a huge difference in the quality of the photographs.

Just like when you are looking for a new job, your potential employer has questions for you and you typically have some questions for that employer to make sure you will be happy there and to make sure it is a good fit. The same logic applies here. I want you to be happy that you chose me and I want you to love your photos. For that to happen, it is important to choose the right photographer for you! Let’s talk about extended family photo sessions! They are chaotic, they are busy, and they are FUN!

I have been doing so many extended family photo sessions this year and it seems like as the pandemic is becoming more controlled, people want to make their family reunions something to remember. I love getting to be a part of it.

While most of you know that I am a family photographer, most people don’t know that I also take school portraits. It is something I have come to truly love because, well, kids are so cute! I have been doing all school photos outdoors this year due to the pandemic and it actually makes for a very nice, relaxed atmosphere for the kids, the teachers, and for myself.

For our next playground review, I will take you to the new Mayfield playground off of Som Center Road, near Parkview Pool. I have been hearing about this playground from many sources and I knew we had to check it out. The only thing better than a playground, in the eyes of my sons, is a playground they have never played on before.

The Polo Fields with the Chagrin River nearby is one of my favorite places for sessions. Add in a fun and sweet extended family and it made for a wonderful night filming, playing, and having fun.

My kids LOVE playgrounds. And climbing. And jumping off of everything. And while they often try to turn our home into a ninja warriors course, it still doesn't compare to an actual playground. We have been to MANY playgrounds in Northeast Ohio. We (they) cannot resist finding new playgrounds to explore.

Since we are self-declared playground experts, I thought I could share our knowledge and provide a list of our top playgrounds in the area. Kid tested and kid approved (photos for proof).

In addition to family photos and films, I also take school photos for preschools. My style is a modern take on the classic school photo. They are taken in front of a simple black or gray background and my goal is to capture the true personality of the child instead of a forced smile.

What better way to celebrate spring than a sunset at the beach? Whenever I go to the beach, it feels like vacationing at the ocean and especially after this year we’ve had, any chance to feel like I’m on vacation is a good one. This sweet, relaxed, fun family was frosting on the cake.

The photographer is the same, the photograph quality and style are the same, but the process is different!

Up until now, I have offered only digital files to my clients, but how many of you actually print your photos and display them in a timely manner? I am guilty of this as well! It took me 9 months to get my last set of family photos printed, at which time my kids did not even look the same! But family photos are not meant to sit on a flash drive or in the cloud. They are meant to be seen and enjoyed. And I want to make this easier for you.

As some of you may know, I have not always been a photographer. I am a Registered Dietitian and have a master’s degree in public health. I worked as a dietitian for ten years but since nutrition work is not creative, I have always had a creative outlet at home.

I remember the first time I had professional photos taken of myself - long before I was a professional photographer. It was for an engagement session and my then fiance (now husband of 7 years) and I had found a beautiful park to take them in (shout out to Inman Park in Atlanta!). But on the morning of the photo session, we woke up to rain and clouds and an oh, so overcast sky.
