What to Expect: A Photo Session with Laura Iber Photography and Film

If you have never had professional photos taken before, you might be wondering not only about the photo session itself, but also about everything that leads up to it. I am here to lay it all out for you! There will be no surprises if you decide to schedule a session with me.

First of all, I encourage you to look through my website, check out my photo gallery, and look at the photo packages that I offer. If you feel like we would be a good fit and you can picture your family photos in a similar style, please fill out my contact form (or email or call me)! I will get back to you either the same day or the following day (depending on what time you reach out) and I will answer any questions you might have. During that initial conversation, we will also discuss your family, location ideas, and dates for the session.

After we have settled on a date and location, I will send you a contract form and a $100 deposit will be due. The rest of the payment will not be due until 24 hours after the session itself. The deposit holds your time slot and makes sure that I will not schedule anyone else for that date/time.

I will be in touch with you a few days before the session just to check in, but you are free to get in touch with me at any time if you have any more questions about what to wear (topic for another blog :) ) or ANYTHING else. I am always happy to talk!

And then it’s time for the session itself!

I will be at the location before you (I like to get there early) and I will meet you near your car. For the near future, at least, I will be wearing a mask and keeping my distance. Then we will go off together to take some photos! I will walk you through a series of poses and in each pose, I will ask you to interact with your family; to look at each other, to get close and snuggle, maybe even to smell your kid’s hair (weird, I know, but the pictures end up looking very sweet). I will walk you through the whole thing and you do not have to worry that you won’t know what to do. That’s MY job, not yours. I hope that you will be able to relax and have fun with your family throughout the session.

You can expect the session to last anywhere from 30-60 minutes. It just depends on the size of the family, the age of the kids (with toddlers we tend to have less time before they decide they are done), if we have further to walk at a certain location, etc.

After the session, I get to work choosing the best images and doing some edits on them to make your family look their best! Within two weeks of the session, you will be emailed a link with your online gallery to view your photos!

If you have any questions about the process at all, feel free to get in touch :)
